escritoireazul: (bones research)

So last night I watched Bones and Justice (well, in between talking on the phone). I have thoughts. Not very coherent thoughts, and it's a little hard to type (okay, it's so cold in here I've put on two shirts. In August. One is short sleeved, of course, but one is long sleeved. [Also, one is red and one is orange, because I like to be strange. The orange sleeves stick out beneath a red shirt.] I am still a little cold), but thoughts.

Bones:

Let's see. I hate the new boss, a lot. Especially at the beginning, and I really don't see those 'people skills' everyone kept talking about in regard to why she got the job. Cute little nicknames for the teammates does not people skills make, and I would be insulted. Plus I hate the idea that we might lose some of the experiments. I did like the reasons she gave Booth for why she took the job--I can understand being tired of putting up with shoddy equipment and no money for research, etc.

The interaction between her and Booth didn't really work for me. It seemed off.

I did, however, love the smackdown of the DA. It was well-done, nice and wicked, and very manipulative after the conversation where Booth told her Bones hasn't made up her mind yet. I like manipulative, personally.

I still enjoy the interaction between Bones and Booth. It's toned down a little more this season (or at least this first episode), and I like it even better than I did last season.

Bones continues to amuse me, always pushing and saying things which don't fit the situation. She's annoying, sometimes, but not so much I can't overlook it. She had to grow on me--last season, I watched pretty sporadically at the beginning, until she and the show wormed their way into my affections.

Zach, Hodge, and Angela are pure love. Especially Angela. She's why I gave the show a second chance, and I continue to adore her.

This season, there is no doubt from me about whether I'll watch it. I was giddy, and enjoyed the case, and continued to be amused by the characters.

J. was watching with me while I did some scheduling work for his company, first time he'd seen the show, and though he seemed to enjoy it, he really disliked both Bones and the new boss, which didn't surprise me. I told him to try it again sometime, Bones would grow on him. With that in mind, maybe the boss will grow on me, as well.

Justice:

I didn't get to watch all of this because I was on and off the phone, but I liked it. I didn't think I would, I'm not a big fan of this type of show, but I did like the idea that they present the case to us and then show the truth, so I gave it a try while waiting for the phone call.

The characters grabbed me from the beginning. I love them, and their shiny, shiny equipment, and their attitudes, and the way they bicker and play off each other. I really enjoyed the style and the way the news coverage is blended into the show itself. J. actually looked up at one point and wanted to know what had happened, why the news was on, and why it was so detailed.

I was disappointed that they went with an actually innocent client for the pilot, but not surprised. I'd like to see one for actually guilty.

Yay, television. Now Supernatural needs to start and I'll be happy.

(Today is day 18 without sweets and day 4 without diet soda. I do miss diet Dr. Pepper, but I'm drinking a lot of tea to make up for it, and it's working so far. Eventually I'll get to the point where I can have them once in awhile, but this every day soda thing was keeping me from getting enough water. As for the sweets, I've not had many cravings, and I'm going to go ahead and have a small piece of birthday cake this weekend for the multiple birthdays. [One piece total, not one each.] Special occasions only, and I'm picky about special occasions. For my birthday, I want a variety of dips and spreads, not a cake. That's a few months away still, though.)

(And now, after that food talk, I'm finally hungry, and it is time for lunch. Good timing.)
